Now that you’ve settled the ol’ fuel debate and decided on an electric wall oven, you must be mulling over your next choice: single or double? It all depends on how much you plan to cook and the size of your space. If you consider yourself a professional home chef or have a big family to nourish, a built-in double electric wall oven is the ideal choice for you.
Before you shop, make sure to check your kitchen layout and measure your space (at least three times!). Most wall ovens range in size from 24-36 inches wide, with 30 inches being the most popular choice. Keep in mind that double wall ovens are around 50 inches tall or higher, depending on the model.
If you’re on the fence about making such a large investment, here are a few key benefits to consider.
Convection cooking circulates hot air throughout the oven cavity with an internal fan, which results in faster cooking times and more even cooking.
But did you know that some luxury and higher-end models have taken convection technology even further? True Convection, or European Convection, uses a third heating element behind the fan, which results in an even temperature throughout the oven. You can bake multiple sheets of cookies and have each rack come out with the same even results!
Dual-convection, or Twin Convection, uses the same heating elements of True Convection, but introduces a second fan. These fans are either placed horizontally or vertically in the oven cavity to circulate the heat even more. Keep in mind, the use of the second fan might cool down the middle rack, with lighter cooking results.
Most double wall ovens have convection in at least one of the ovens, so be sure to double check if the whole appliance has convection before you buy.
Exploring double wall ovens with Air Fry? Here’s a quick breakdown: Air Fry uses an additional heating element like convection, but the heated air moves around much faster and operates at much higher temperatures to create absolute crispy perfection. You don’t have to flip your food, and you don’t have to fry it in oil!
